A continuation of the battle over health care that consumed Congress last year is still happening. The health care provides a classic examples of how the impact of a law depends on regulations to interpret it. The rules deal with the law, pushed through Congress by President Obama and Democratic leaders with no Republican support. This can affect our country because with the battle over healthcare people who need healthcare insurance may not be able to get the chance to have one. We need to come to a close on this issue.

With the American public still very much divided over the new health care law, President Obama on Saturday impacted, saying the overhaul had already helped millions of individuals and small businesses.  This year, 4 million small businesses benefited from health care tax cuts and seniors will receive a $250 check to help them cover the costs of prescriptions. This can affect our country because it can benefit many of the people wo have small businesses.

The fight over the new health care law shifted Thursday to the states, as some governors claimed federal money to run a new insurance pool for people with serious medical problems, while officials in other states said they would not operate the program.  But Republican officials in Georgia, Indiana, Nebraska and Nevada turned down the opportunity to run the high-risk pool, as did at least one Democratic governor, Dave Freudenthal of Wyoming.

When major companies declared that the new health care would hurt earnings, Democrats were skeptical. House Democrats have concluded that the companies were right to tell the investors and the government about the expected effects on the financial law. This can affect our country because when someting happens, it can affect our lives and can change our finance and health care.

American consumers, who spent a year watching Congress scratch over sweeping health care legislation, can now try to figure out what the overhaul would mean for them. The legislation is meant to provide coverage for as many as 32 million people who have been shut out of the market. I think this can affect our country because just about everyone might benefit from tighter insurance regulations.

This can affect our country because they agreed & approved now we can all be equal & pay the same amount for health care insurance.

This can impact our country and affect it because people around the world have to come to an agreement and be able for the bill to be passed so that we can have good health payments.

“The Senate Republican leader, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, warned Democrats on Tuesday that Republicans would use the issue of health care to bludgeon them in the November midterm elections if Democrats succeeded in passing a comprehensive overhaul. His comments reflected growing Republican concern over President Obama’s resolve to secure passage of a comprehensive health care measure, which would be viewed as big Democratic achievement.” This can affect our country because with the disagreements the bill will never pass. We need to come up with an agreement to settle everyone’s opinions.

It impacts us today becuase they showed a great influence to us by having lots of ideas. Their ideas are ranked the best art in the world becuase of their buildings and paintings. They used glass and mostly text tiles.

Their faith is the fastest growing religion in the world, it spreaded all over Asia and Indonesia. Their religion talks about peace and equality with others. Muslims believed Jesus was a prophet, and also believed that Mohamid was a man. in 1097 hundreds of soldiers marched for the glory of God. This impacted us becuase without their beliefs we would not be able to understand our religion today.

Turkey apology over prison death (current event) October 15, 2008

Turkey’s justice minister apologizes to the family of the human rights activist who was beaten to death by officers. The person that was beaten to death was Mr. Ceben, 29, was arrested becuase he was shooting by the police of a fellow activist. he was taken in the Istanbul, where he was claimed to be beaten. afetr he was beaten he was sent to the hospital and fell into a coma then on Saturday night he died. This relates to our country because our government and there government has the same polices such as no torturing, or even abusing anyone, but they still do it. Mr. Sahin, part of the government, said that who ever was responsible would be punished. Even if we say they will be punished, why do we stilll do it? Because people in our country do not respect the polices or ” rules” the government has. That’s why most people are in jail because of how they treat others.

US military deaths in Iraq war at 4,186 October 21, 2008

Filed under: My blogs — Jadap @ 1:09 am

On Monday, October 20, 2008 at least 4186 military members of the U.S. has died in the Iraq war since March 2008. Only eight military civilians were killed in action. At least 3386 members died as a result of hostile action. This article is short but it tells alot it shows that we need a strong and stable military and we should have more protection because without them we can not support our country. Other places such as the British military has reported 176 deaths. So basically it means we should have a better military and a safe plce to be in, because without them we will not be able to stand strong!

i picked this article because it shows us that our soldiers are not prepared, we are not ready, so if they killed three Amercians, what can happen to us, and our country, if we don’t have any soldiers that are prepared to do anything to help us survive living in this world, i don’t think so. If we have better and stronger soldiers, there is a better chance that we will survive in this world.

Some israelites feel the urgency to attack Iran 11/05/08 November 6, 2008

Filed under: My blogs — Jadap @ 1:55 am

Many Israelites believe their nation alone stands in the way of Tehran eventually building nuclear weapons, with international efforts to increase sanctions (supports) against Iran. Much of the international community quietly wants Israel to launch a strike, the officials say, but only if it can succeed. In Israel, the issue of whether to strike first against Iranian nuclear facilities remains a steady topic of debate. U.S. officials fear that an attack would trigger violent repercussions.

I picked this article because if we were to say that we were going to make an attack against some other country, i would suggest that we should keep it a secret so that our country willl be ready to attack and no one will know. I also picked this article because i think alll countries should know that if you keep everything you are planning to do, it will be successful. So i think as a country we need to keep things safe and private from any outsiders such as terrorists.

Article: Professor in Jerusalem bomb attack November 18, 2008

Filed under: My blogs — Jadap @ 12:14 am

At 1 am. a man named Zeev Sternhell went out to lock his garden gate when a bomb exploded and caused him to have minor injuries. An unknown organization claimed responsibility and leaflets were found in the area calling for the establishment of “the Judean Kingdom”. Becuase of that the leaflets offered a reward of  1.1 million NIS which is $333,600 for killing a memeber of the left- wing organization.

I have picked this article because it shows that Israel where Zeev Sternell lived was not aware of what was surrounding or shall i say what was coming, like always i pick the article with stuff like bombing because i think and i repeat myself our country and other countries are safe they are not stable they dont have enough protection, all though the leaflets offered to reward them for their respinsibility it is still a problem becuase that means that Israel idsnot prepared or ready for any attack and that’s why i picked his article becuase what if something happened here in the U.S. and our military and our soldiers were not aware of this what will happen to some of us or even millions of us??? So my point is that we need to keep our country safe and protected and the government and the militray should be aware of everything that is happening.

Eleven Iraqis die in Mosul suicide bombing

Eleven Iraqis, including six women and children, were killed Sunday when a suicide bomber set off explosives during a raid by American forces on a house in Mosul. Iraqi police and the local morgue reported that 11 people - the bomber, three women, three children and four men were killed in the Mosul neighborhood. The police official said two of the victims were dismembered. And he also added the bodies were delivered to the morgue by the Iraqi army and placed in nylon bags used by U.S. forces. Two children, a 3-month-old and a 5-year-old, survived and were taken to a hospital.

I picked this article becuase this can also happen to us if we are not protected and safe. Thank God for keeping the 3 month old and the 5 year old alive and safe. This affects our country and is also related/similar to our country becuase there are many suicide bombing in many places and you never know that their can be one here, so if we want our place or country to be safe and protected we need a better and more stable place to live and a stronger military to protect us from many bombing happening today.

AIRMAN DIES IN VEHICLE ACCIDENT
The last time Cesar Ayala saw his brother Alejandro was Aug. 14, when they played some pool and shared a late McDonald’s lunch near the Camp Virginia military base in Kuwait. They had only one day together because Cesar Ayala, 22, a sergeant in the Marine Corps, was on his way back home to Riverside after completing his second tour in Iraq. Alejandro Ayala, a staff sergeant in the Air Force, remained in Kuwait but had said that he planned to take 30 days of leave in April so he and his brother, their families and the rest of the Ayala clan could get together. His mother, Ilda, 49, said she had seen him only three times since he graduated from high school in 1999 and went away to boot camp. On their next reunion, Alejandro Ayala was killed Nov. 18 in a vehicle accident in Kuwait. His family was not informed of his death until a few days later.

Iraq bombing kills 28 at police station December 17, 2008

A suicide bomber attacked recruits waiting outside a police station Tuesday in Iraq’s restive Diyala province, killing 28 people and wounding 45, witnesses and Interior Ministry officials said. The bomber walked up to the line of recruits in the province’s mainly Arab district of Jalawla, about 80 miles northeast of Baghdad, and set off his explosives.  The governor of the province, Raad Tamimi, said militants were trying to create an impression that they remained strong.

I have picked this article because i think that our country should be more aware now becuase of so many bombing in Iraq and other countries. Becuase they bombed the police station and killed 28 people, it is very nerve wrecking that it might happen to us, to our military.

The Camorra hit squad sped down the Via Domitiana, which is the road built along the Bay of Naples during the Roman Empires. This is simliar to our society/community because they have gangs and so does our community. We make the same crimes, we make the same terrible mistakes in life just the way they do it. Mob violence against immigrants in South Africa January 12, 2009

january 12, 2009

Immigrants there, particularly those hailing from Zimbabwe, have been targets of attacks by South Africans. Hundreds of Zimbabweans and other foreigners fled their homes in Alexandra, a teeming crime-ridden townshipeen. Some hid in the nearby bush or in police compounds. About 100 foreigners were injured and at least two people were killed. Many of them work for a few dollars a day, and are adding to the burdens of a country which already suffers 40% unemployment.

I have picked this article because I think it is very important. It is very important to me becuase the Zimbabweans and the other foreigners injured by the targets by the South Africans becuase they were immigrants coming to South Africa in Alexandra to go back to their homes. I think this article relates to our community becuase people get killed here in the U.S. just for coming here to the U.S. like how the Zimbabweans were coming to South Africa to go to their families back at their homes. Swine Flu Migrates to China and Japan– 05/12/09 May 15, 2009

In China which has itself been the source of flu pandemics and the 2003 outbreak of SARS found its first case in a student returning from Missouri. Authorities rushed to quarantine passengers on his flights from Minneapolis to Chengdu via Tokyo. Japan also reported cases in a teacher and three students who had visited Canada. During the weekend, the flu was also found in Australia; health authorities are carefully watching the Southern Hemisphere, where the winter flu season is just beginning.

I have picked this article because the swine flu has going everywhere and we can’t stop it. With the swine flu migrating to China and JApan  that means, it will be more harder to get rid of the flu. The U.S. is efected by this because they are going through this too, they have got one death and many cases. This article is very important becuase it does not only effect us, and the people in Asia, but other countries too.

Like millions of his countrymen, he fled to Pakistan in the 1980s during the Soviet miliary occupation of his country. He was 19 and would spend the next seven years as a refugee, trying to get to America. He learned English and penned long letters of appeal, and was finally allowed to immigrate. Now he is married, has a house in suburban Virginia and arranges his hours driving a cab so he can be home in the mornings with his two young children. He still broods over the years he lost in Pakistan — unable to work, attend school, see his family.

I have picked this article because it shows how poeple all around the world is struggling through their lives to go through life and therir jobs. I believe as Barck Obama as our president that will change .He is a man with the strnegth and the ability to stand up to what is right and with that stamina I think that he will change many peoples lives.

More than 100 dead in Kenya gasoline blaze -1/2/09 February 2, 2009

There were not nearly enough hospital beds — or body bags — after one of Kenya’s deadliest accidents in recent memory. Burn victims lined the floors of overwhelmed hospitals today, hooked up to drips and moaning in pain after an overturned gasoline tanker exploded as hundreds of people tried to scoop up free fuel. More than 100 people were killed and 200 injured in the inferno, which was likely sparked by a cigarette. The government sent extra body bags and medical supplies to the area by helicopter, along with more doctors to reinforce the overwhelmed hospitals, where some victims were lying on floors. One child, who appeared to be around 10, was sitting dazed in a wheelchair with burns covering his face and body.

I have picked this ariticle because I think that as acountry we need to be more prepared with supplies we need for hospitals so that we do not have to worry about these kinds of situations.. I think this does not relate to our country becuase I think that we are more prepared with our new president Barack obama with his power I think that our nation will be strong and successful.

L.A. public school system is pretty much a disaster — mismanaged, overcrowded, underfunded, crippled by a bloated bureaucracy, lacking in leadership and soon to be further undermined by another round of budget cuts. It’s such a sad, depressing story that, for years, Hollywood has refused to acknowledge it. If you look at the movies made in the last few decades about our schools, they are — with rare exceptions — uplifting dramas and escapist fantasies that have little to do with the grim realities of our crumbling school system. First, it was made in a country that holds education and academia in far higher esteem than in America. Becuase of this situation most people who came from Mali are now heading back to their old lives and starting fresh and new.

I have picked this article because I think it is very important to know that children besides us are not having a great education becuase of the lacking in leadership. I believe as Obama as our president of the UNited states he will fix this problem. This article is my favorite becuase I think that kids that are like my age and below and even older are not havong the right to learn the way I learn and not having the opportunity to learn also, I want these kthings to change quick. I think it is not fair for us to go to school and learn great things and not others get any education becuase they have to move schools back to their original homes.

West Africa gets help fighting South American drug traffickers February 17, 2009

Guinea-Bissau policeman Edmundo Mendes got a tip that South American drug traffickers had dumped 2 tons of cocaine off the coast of his West African country. But Mendes, part of his country’s tiny counter-narcotics  force, was powerless because he didn’t have a boat with which to seize the drugs. Finally, he thought of asking European or U.S. counter-narcotics officials for help but didn’t know whom to call.

Kadafi urges massive shake-up 3-3-09 March 4, 2009

Tripoli, Libya,  Leader Moammar Kadafi on Saturday called on Libyans to endorse his proposal to dismantle the national government and give the country’s oil wealth directly to its 5 million people. Kadafi has urged a sweeping revision of government bureaucracy, saying the whole Cabinet system should be dismantled to free Libyans from corruption and mismanagement. His plan has run into opposition from senior officials, who stand to lose their jobs in a government purge.

I have picked this article because I think that people should’nt dismantle the government because they have no right to do that, unless the country was under poverty then i can understand that. Oil price jumps, but retail gasoline rises slightly 3/09/09 March 9, 2009

Crude oil on Monday reached its highest closing price since January on concern that oil producers might agree to hold back more production when they meet in Vienna this weekend. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline climbed to $1.941, up 0.7 of a cent from the previous Monday, according to the Energy Department’s weekly survey of filling stations. Nigeria reported that another recent militant attack on a Shell Oil Co. oil pipeline had forced it to halt deliveries to several customers. Nigeria’s military also claimed Monday to have thwarted a plot to attack a Chevron Corp. facility and its pipelines in the oil-rich Niger Delta.
I have picked this article because I think that gasoline efftcs people becuse people work and they need to drive, dont they, so they have to get gasoline to refill their tank , but with the price rising how can people get to their destination. THis affects our country because the people in America need cars and gas to drive and most people in the U.S. have cars.

Where are Africa’s Obamas? 3/16/09 March 18, 2009

Fellow Kenyans celebrated wildly when Barack Obama was elected president of the United States. A national holiday was declared the Thursday after the U.S. election, and more than four months later, the excitement has barely abated — and not just in Kenya, where Obama’s father was born, but across Africa. People are elated by the fact that someone with African roots has been able to rise to such heights.  Africans ask questions like: Why don’t more African nations have the kind of leadership President Obama is demonstrating?

I chose this article because I think that African leaders have much to learn from the new president’s example. His campaign was disciplined, inclusive and grass-roots-led. I think with them learning from Obama will make Africa a great and stable country.   I think that this affects our country because it the same for us if our leaders that follow his ways we will have a strong and stable country.

Keiichiro Kobayashi accuses someone of wanting to disregard the problems of the banks and focus only on fiscal expansion. Actually, Kobayashi never said that; he seems to have me confused with Robert Reich, who has. In Osaka, Japan when the sheet metal orders coming into his small business, High Metal, fell by half last October, it never occurred to Masaaki Taruki to lay off his workers.

Because of government subsidies, Mr. Taruki in the last three months installed rows of parsley, watercress and other plants, using factory space that has been empty since the company disposed of unused machinery. High Metal’s staff tend the sprouts religiously, topping up the water supply, adding fertilizer and adjusting the fluorescent lights. According to statistics released Wednesday, the Japanese economy suffered its worst contraction since 1955 in the first quarter, declining 15.2 percent on an annualized basis. But a far smaller portion of workers have lost their jobs in Japan.

Major Rule on Healthcare Reforms:

The democrats are preparing to push through healthcare reforms. The democrats want to enact healthcare reform this year. They appear to have little choice but to adopt majority- rules strategy. In recent weeks, the Republicans are unlikely to vote for reform this year. Three commitees of the House and one in the Senate have used their Democratic majorities to approve liberal health reform bills. They decided on new  ideas that were to reduce the scale of the program and the subsidies for low-income people. Another idea is to eliminate a requirement that employers offer coverage to their workers or pay a penalty.

Its most likely to not to be voted by the Republicans even if it it comes to an agreement.

For many months, many democrats, including President Obama, has pushed for the creation of the government- run insurance. A main argument was that a public plan would save people money. It would not be under pressure to earn profits, pay high private-sector salaries or deny needed care. But after House Democratic leaders gave out the health care bill on Thursday, the Congressional Budget Office said the public plan would cost more than private plans and only six million people would sign up.

Under the healthcare bill more than 30 million uninsured Americans would gain coverage.  The Senate legislation would reduce Medicare spending on home health care services, which have grown in the push to keep Medicare patients out of hospitals and nursing homes. This can affect our country because those who need the help will get support and comfort with Medicare.

President Obama exhorted Senate Democrats on Sunday to put aside their differences and their moment in history by passing landmark health legislation. But President Obama hasn’t mentioned about abortion or government-run- insurance plan. Though Mr. Obama gave them no guidance on the question.  This can affect our government because without discussing about those issues, abortion and government- run insurance plan, we may not know what to do on these issues. I think we need to be more interested in those issues to make our society better.

President Obama and Democratic leaders have a strong case. They need to make it now!  Reforming this country’s broken health care system is an urgent and essential task. Given all of the distortions from Republican critics, and among Democratic supporters, it is no surprise that many Americans still have doubts. This can affect our country because President Obama and the other Democratic leaders have a case they need to fix now. They need to do it now, because this case is urgent and need 100% attention.

Union leaders said Monday in the afternoon that they planned to tell President Obama in a meeting later in the day that it would be a costly political mistake to an excise tax on high-priced, employer-sponsored health benefits. They also said it would be politically unwise for Mr. Obama to back the excise tax because his presidential campaign had run ads attacking John McCain for proposing to tax health benefits.

The White House and Democratic Congressional leaders, scramble for a backup plan to rescue their health care legislation if Republicans win the special election in Massachusetts on Tuesday, have begun laying the groundwork to ask House Democrats to approve the Senate version of the bill and send it directly to the president for his signature. This affects our country because the Democrats are planning to pass the healthcare bill through the White House, and that can help many people who does not have insurance for healthcare.

The White House and Democratic leaders in Congress face a crucial decision about whether to use a procedural maneuver that would allow them to advance the bill despite the loss of their 60-vote majority in the Senate. The procedure is also subject to complex rules that could make it difficult for Democrats to include all the provisions needed to win approval of the bill, especially among rank-and-file House Democrats. This can affect our country because depending on the congress and the white house decisions about whether to use a procedural maneuver that allows to advance the bill to getting an approval.

President Obama’s pledge to keep fighting for major health care legislation got personal on Thursday night as he told supporters at a fund-raiser about a former campaign worker in St. Louis without health insurance who had died of breast cancer. Despite recent political setbacks, Mr. Obama vowed to win approval of the legislation, and his enthusiastic audience roared: “Yes, we can! Yes, we can!” This affects our country because the only way this health care bill can be passed is by having President Obama’s approval.

With no clear path forward on major health care legislation, Democratic leaders in Congress effectively slammed the brakes on President Obama’s top  priority on Tuesday, saying they no longer felt pressure to move quickly on a health bill after eight months of setting deadlines and missing them. This can affect our country because if the Democrats give up on the healthcare bill issue, many lives will suffer under high cost of healthcare or some medical help they need but they can not afford it.
